The molded feet raise the base piece about ½” off the table. The unit measures just about 10” in height x 5-1/2” square. (I have tried several translation sites and none have recognized all the markings completely.) The back displays two markings…… a large hand painted symbol done in black and a red square stamp. The initial design appears to be transfers or stamps that were then hand painted. The Japanese refer to the crane as the “bird of happiness”, while the sides continue unassumingly with the scenery.
